About
Katla Carbon works with trusted local civil society organizations in climate-vulnerable regions to deliver high-integrity carbon credits rooted in human rights, gender equality, and climate justice. We develop projects based on one of the most underutilized but rigorously researched climate solutions: expanding access to education for marginalized girls in low-income countries. Decades of peer-reviewed scietific research show that girls’ education contributes to long-term emissions reductions through pathways such as improved health, increased adaptive capacity, and shifts in demographic trends. It is also a powerful enabler of community resilience and climate justice. Our methodological work has been guided by Dr. Shonali Pachauri, a lead author of the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report (Working Group III), along with insights from leading climate and development scientists. Katla Carbon’s approach is built on robust scientific evidence, strong ethical standards, and a commitment to measurable, verifiable impact. Our carbon credits deliver triple impact—for the climate; for community co-benefits aligned with the SDGs; and for human rights and climate justice. By directing climate finance to grassroots partners, we ensure that carbon markets accelerate locally led solutions where they are needed most.
