Eskja hf.
About
Eskja is a family-owned company based in Eskifjörður that has been a leading force in the Icelandic fishing industry for the past 70 years. The company was formerly known as Hraðfrystihús Eskifjarðar and was founded on May 8, 1944, with the aim of strengthening the town’s limited economic base. The founders included around three hundred individuals and local businesses. Ever since, Eskja has been a cornerstone of Eskifjörður’s economy. Over the years, the company has grown and flourished, and today it employs around 100 people. Our goal is to be at the forefront, always utilizing the best available production technology and producing high-quality products from Icelandic fish for the most demanding markets in the world. We also place strong emphasis on the education and continued training of our staff. From the beginning, Eskja has been guided by the principle of treating the fishing grounds around Iceland with responsibility and respect, in accordance with laws and regulations, and minimizing the environmental impact of its operations.
