Belem Bioenergia Brasil, in partnership with family farmers, has been a significant ally in the pursuit of sustainability, as it relies on a cultivation method with low environmental impact. For the company, fostering the development of family partners is also a way to practice Social Responsibility, considering that the progress of each farmer reflects in the economic growth of the communities where the plantations exist. Therefore, having a strong and productive family agriculture translates to job creation, income generation, peace in rural areas, and the effective functioning of the local economy.

On Monday, June 5, we celebrated World Environment Day. To commemorate this significant date, we carried out a simple yet meaningful project in partnership with Bom Pastor Municipal School: tree planting as a means of environmental awareness.

BBB donated 10 seedlings of yellow ipê and 10 seedlings of pink ipê, all planted on the same day by the students in the school's own area, located in the Quatro Bocas district, Tomé-Açu.

Furthermore, on June 7, we conducted an initiative in collaboration with Acará-Mirim Indigenous School, situated in the rural area of Tomé-Açu. During this event, we held lectures on the importance of preserving riverbanks and waters of the streams. Guidance on proper waste disposal was also provided.

All of these activities were part of the Environmental Week.

Afforestation and reforestation

The BBB/Embrasca ARR Project, located in the Brazilian Amazon, involves the reforestation of previously degraded pastures with oil palm trees. This initiative aims to mitigate climate change by planting nearly 25,000 hectares of oil palm trees, which is expected to remove over 3.7 million tons of CO2 from the atmosphere over 30 years. Additionally, the project contributes to the restoration of biodiversity, as oil palm cultivation on unused agricultural land reduces carbon emissions significantly compared to deforestation, and it fosters local sustainable development by providing employment and promoting social and environmental responsibility. The project aligns with best sustainability practices, focusing on respecting the environment and supporting traditional and non-traditional communities in the region.

The BBB/Embrasca ARR Project is situated within sectoral scope 14 of the International Carbon Registry and operates in Tailândia and Tomé-Açu, Pará, Brazil. The project transforms previously degraded pastures into a sustainable agroforestry ecosystem by planting oil palm trees, effectively addressing environmental challenges and promoting climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and community development.
