Project Description

The DD-SWAM project by Saudi Aramco aims to restore 9.9 hectares of degraded mangroves in Saudi Arabia by planting native mangrove species. The project is scheduled to start on April 16, 2028. Over a 30-year period, the project will bring in a GHG reduction of 4,357 tons of CO2 emissions using CDM AR-AM0014 methodology and advanced monitoring technologies like remote sensing. It supports SDGs 13 and 14, enhancing coastal resilience and promoting sustainable marine ecosystem management.
